Amazon Prime Now/Fresh Thyme Delivery Review

I am a huge fan of Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime Now, their grocery delivery service.  It's no secret that I use them quite often.  Some people have complained since the service started that the prices are too high and on some things, that is very true.  With those items you are paying for the convenience of having it dropped off at your doorstep within a couple of hours of ordering.  There's no way in hell I'm going to pay $5.00 for a box of cereal or a bag of chips but there are excellent deals to be found on the site every week and those are the things that I buy.  In a way, Amazon Prime Now actually helps me with my stock ups.

Recently, a grocery store called Fresh Thyme has teamed up with Amazon to offer more items like fresh meats.  Heck yeah!  That makes life even easier.  I finally placed a test order today to see how that addition to the service will work.

My order wasn't large at all, 6 items total.  The pricing is a bit odd on the site and that's the main thing that I'm looking at.

I purchased a whole duck.  The one that they brought me weighed 4.90 pounds.  The one on the website that I ordered from said that the duck will cost $7.80 but the price on the duck that they brought was a little over $12.  We'll see what happens when the order is charged to the bank account.  That was one of my concerns with ordering.  Will the charge be for $7.80 or for the $12+?  We'll see.

I also snagged a head of cauliflower and the website pricing said 99 cents which is DIRT cheap for cauliflower in my area.  If the pricing is accurate, I'll definitely be ordering more of that.  :)

The other items were seafood, dill and a plantain banana.  I needed the dill for a recipe that I'm going to be posting next week.

The one thing that really impressed me was that the order arrived in right at an hour.  I didn't even have time to get dressed before I received the text that the order was on the way.  Now that's fast!

If you aren't familiar with Amazon Prime, I really do highly recommend it.  It does cost $99 a year BUT it more than makes up for it in benefits.  Free 2 day shipping on a lot of things when you order from Amazon, free streaming movies and television shows, free music, free Kindle books, free cloud storage... and more.  It's insane.  The cheap Netflix membership costs about the same every year and the only benefit of Netflix is the program streaming.

Amazon Prime kicks Netflix's ass in my opinion.  :)

Prine Now is not available in all areas but if you do live in an area where it is offered, I highly recommend you check it out.  I use them once a week on average and still have no complaints about the service or the pricing that they offer.  The convenience is just simply... amazing.
